Unsafe Drugs :: Bextra

BEXTRA - Valdecoxib, or Bextra as its known to the general public, is a prescription drug that is classified medically as a non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID. Manufactured by the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Bextra is a painkiller meant to help with the treatment of several different conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and painful menstruation/menstrual symptoms. While it was approved by the FDA in late 2001, the medication was recalled less than 4 years later when it was found that users of Bextra are at an increased risk of heart attack and stroke, as well as many other serious and potentially life-threatening conditions. News of this recall has left some of those that have already taken the drug quite concerned – and for good reason.

Apart from an increased risk of heart attack and stroke, there are several other possible side effects associated with using the drug Bextra. Additional side effects that have been reported include serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome which, although quite rare, can be fatal, toxic epidermal necrolysis which causes extreme redness and peeling of the skin, severe anaphylactic shock with the possibility of death, angina, frequent and severe chest pains and other cardiovascular risks, other serious allergic reactions, stomach or intestinal ulcers and bleeding, as well as the possibility of heart arrhythmia or renal disease. With all of these potential problems associated with the drug, it is a wonder how Bextra was ever released upon the general public in the first place.

Obviously, there are many different side effects that can attributed directly to taking the drug Bextra – and some of them are quite serious. If you or a loved one have been harmed by Bextra, fill out the form below for a free evaluation by a qualified Bextra attorney.  Cases involving large pharmaceutical companies demand a lawyer and law firm that have the resources, experience, and expertise to get those injured the results they deserve.
